Navigating Careers at bol

The Career Radar helps bol employees explore and understand their career possibilities. At bol, careers can move in many directions, with pathways branching across teams, disciplines, and levels. However, these opportunities weren’t always easy to see, which sometimes led employees to look elsewhere for growth.

From current role to next steps

At Kaliber, I designed an interactive radar interface that visualizes career paths from the employee’s current role. Possible next steps are plotted based on attainability: roles closer to the center are easier to reach with existing skills, while roles further out require more development.

From abstract possibilities into actionable paths

Common career moves are supported with visual cues to guide exploration, while less obvious paths remain visible to encourage broader thinking. Selecting a role reveals a clear progression path, including required skills, relevant e-learning, and open vacancies.

Encouraging action beyond the interface

To lower the barrier for taking action, the experience includes small, human-centered prompts, such as reaching out to someone in another team, making career exploration feel approachable and actionable.
